PURE will provide teaching and coaching of qualified student, who are studying in nutrition, food science, other health or physical science programs.  It is our mission to attract and develop the best students and aim to establish ourselves as a leader in the nutritional, dietary supplement industry.

 

Intern candidate will gain hands-on, corporate experience. A significant portion of candidate’s time will be working with the company’s Research & Development and Quality department. The R&D and Quality team is looking for an intern, who can assist with the following:

 

Nutrition, Food Science Quality Candidate

 

  1. Will learn how to develop market ready dietary supplements by working with the company’s product development scientist

  2. Will help create powdered drink mix (protein, energy and others) and encapsulated dietary supplements, which consist of vitamins, minerals and other dietary, functional, and botanical, herbal ingredients

  3. Work on sensory survey panels internally as part of the development process to help ensure the taste and consistency of products are the best possible prior to market release

  4. Will participate in quality assurance activities by contributing to the analysis of finished product by conducting quality product inspections and review of documents necessary for finished product releases

  5. Work with R&D Director to help create and review dietary supplement labels based on FDA’s latest guidelines published in Federal Register / Vol. 81, No. 103 / May 2017 and existing label rules published in 21 CFR 101

  6. Will use research skills to help create and develop well-researched product claims in easy-to-understand, consumer friendly language

  7. Will use analytical skills to help validate and substantiate product benefit statements as required by US FDA

  8. Will become familiar with FDA nonbinding guidance given to the supplement industry for making claims made under section 403(r) (6) of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act

  9. Will become familiar with FDA guidance given on the creation of product structure/function claims as outlined by the Dietary Supplement Health and Education Act (DSHEA) of 1994 and for conventional foods

  10. Will have the opportunity to work on existing products and new products in the product development pipeline

  11. Will be given opportunities to identify areas of additional research for products, ingredients, or ingredient compounds, which are novel in the application of human physiology and health and propose these opportunities for additional testing for the expansion of product knowledge and benefit

  12. Will work in a collaborative team environment

  13. Must have excellent research and analytical skills as well as be able to translate complex ideas into consumer-friendly language

  14. Must be detail oriented and have excellent communication skills

  15. Be flexible and adaptable regarding changing priorities and topics

  16. Be self-driven and show initiative

  19. Must be able to follow guidance and complete assignments in time specified

  20. Schedule is flexible based on student’s availability; Desired available work time is up to 20 hours a week
